You may have heard that Health Net has made the business decision to leave the commercial group insurance market in California, for both Small Group and Large Group benefits.
If your CaliforniaChoice benefits program includes members enrolled with Health Net, we will keep you informed about what this change means for your employees and their coverage. For now, those employees can continue with Health Net.
Important Dates and Renewal Information
CaliforniaChoice will continue to offer Health Net plans through January 1, 2027, renewals. This means that if your CaliforniaChoice plan renews January 1, 2027, employees who select Health Net can continue their Health Net coverage for the full plan year – through December 31, 2027.
If your group coverage renews earlier, Health Net will remain available for the full plan year following that renewal, based on your group’s renewal effective date.
And when it’s time to transition, your employees will continue to have options.
With CaliforniaChoice, You Have Choices
When Health Net is no longer available at your renewal, your CaliforniaChoice program remains in place. Employees enrolled with Health Net can select coverage from one of the six health plans that remain available through CaliforniaChoice:
- Anthem Blue Cross
- Kaiser Permanente
- Sharp Health Plan
- Sutter Health Plan
- UnitedHealthcare
- Western Health Advantage

When the time comes, our teams can work with you and your broker to help affected employees evaluate their options including identifying health plans that may allow them to maintain access to preferred doctors, hospitals, and provider networks.
